Hope Lake Lodge Resort and Indoor Waterpark

The new Hope Lake Lodge Resort and Indoor Waterpark, located in Virgil, NY at the gateway to the Finger Lakes region, will be a premier tourism destination, as well as one of Upstate New York's largest "green" projects. Groundbreaking for the project happened this month, and construction will be moving full-steam ahead this summer, thanks to $38 million in project financing. Financing was facilitated by a $10 million USDA Rural Development loan guarantee and a blend of public and private sources.

The 106-room, five-story condominium hotel complex will feature a 40,000 square foot indoor waterpark with a wave pool, three-story tube slide, 500 feet of body slides, indoor/outdoor swimming pools and hot tubs. Other resort amenities will include an international health spa, fitness center, childcare and activity center, and family restaurant, along with meeting rooms that will augment existing conference space at the adjacent Greek Peak ski resort base lodge.
With its Northwoods/Adirondack style architectural design and décor, the Hope Lake Lodge Resort and Indoor Waterpark has already received four-star designation from Vantage Hospitality under the flag of "Lexington Resorts and Villas." Vantage is the 12th largest hotel company worldwide. Hope Lake Lodge Resort owners can trade through Resort Condominium International, LLC, which is the largest vacation exchange company in the world. Hope Lake Lodge has achieved the coveted RCI Gold Crown status, which enables exchanges at the most luxurious resorts in the world.

Hope Lake Resort and Indoor Waterpark are within a four-hour drive of a 40 million-person tourism market, and is expected to draw visitors from Canada, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Year-round visitors will compliment the more than 250,000 annual skier visits to Greek Peak ski center, which has been in operation since 1958.

Upstate New York's largest "green" projects

The resort will be one of Upstate New York's largest "green" projects, featuring state-of-the-art sustainable construction techniques and materials.

The project will seek to become LEED certified, a designation by the United States Green Building Council that attests to the highest standards in terms of environmentally sensitive site planning, resource efficient building materials, superior indoor environmental quality, and energy efficiency. This nationally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating will make Hope Lake Lodge Resort and Indoor Waterpark a showcase "green" project.

Hope Lake Lodge Resort and Indoor Waterpark will be working with the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) to provide the energy modeling and commissioning for the LEED certification program.

Other "green" elements of the project include:

Sustainable site development, including water retention areas, native plants and grasses, and reutilization of rocks from excavation for reuse on site .

Water use efficiency, including low-flow plumbing fixtures that conserve water, and recycled water at the 140,000 gallon Indoor Waterpark.

Energy efficiency lighting and UV low emissive Argon-filled windows.

Geothermal heating and cooling systems .

Use of sustainable materials, such as certified lumber that meets the US Forest Service requirements, along with recycled construction materials.

Indoor environmental air quality systems, and increased ventilation and filtering to maintain high air quality standards .

High efficiency gas fireplaces in units, rather than wood burning units, to ensure air quality
Man-made lake which conserves and reutilizes water for snowmaking in the winter, while providing summer recreational opportunities for the local community and visitors .
